Playful Kiss

Without a doubt, my fave Taiwanese drama of all time has been "It Started With A Kiss" aka 恶作剧之吻. Fave Korean show, "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon".

Now with the Korean version of Itazura na Kiss (original manga version)/It Started With A Kiss/恶作剧之吻, i.e., Playful Kiss/Mischievous Kiss, depending on how the story continues playing out from now (episode 12), I may have to re-think about my Korean fave. Hahaha!

What I like about it:
- MUCH less long-winded than the Taiwanese version
- some parts follow more closely with the original manga
- lead actor and actress MUCH MUCH better looking
- Background scenery so much nicer (very korean-ish)
- the OST!

What I do not like about it:
- some parts of the script
- acting not as good
- some great parts from the Taiwanese version is not included

Looking forward to Episode 13!

24

No it's not about the very intimidating 2-4 which I will be facing very soon. Eeks.

I'm talking about 24. The one with Keifer Sutherland in it.

Season 8 concludes the end of the adrenaline-filled TV series. It is so good, that I'm compelled to blog about it. 24 is a must-watch TV series for anyone who calls themselves a TV junkie. If you ask me, I'll say it's the best TV series ever produced.

I'm glad that it has ended because I don't want to see it go downhill like some TV series. The best example is Prison Break. Started as a really highly-rated series, and then it goes down and down and down, struggling to resurrect its fans. 24 has been consistently great. From season 1 to season 8, every episode is worth watching. Every episode brings you new twists and surprises. You just wouldn't know what to expect. The most interesting thing is, all seasons are, to a large extent, very realistic. Despite similar plots for some seasons , i.e, dealing with nuclear weapons, 24 always brings a fresh perspective to the situation.

For most seasons, Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland) has people helping him in his radical, sometimes highly controversial missions. Season 8 has Bauer working on his own most of the time. 1 man versus the CTU, the Secret Service, the FBI, the NYPD, the "private security company", the terrorists, the President! And he still wins! It sounds really impossible but it's all about tactic/strategy and not numbers. Look at 300. Seeing the way these guys do it, I have to believe it's more than possible. Furthermore, Keifer Sutherland's acting is so good, you'll be wondering if he's a federal agent in real life.

Ultimate highlight of Season 8!
Jack Bauer's wicked cool badass full body armour suit!

Jack Bauer as he takes on the ex-president of the United States.
What you need:
1x full body armour suit
1x pistol (to puncture car tires and shoot at Secret Service agents with high accuracy)
1x shotgun (to weaken bulletproof car and make a small hole in it)
1x smoke bomb (to get the President out of locked car)

He totally left the President and his agents shivering like scared kittens. LOL.

Having known all the twists already, will I re-watch it? I think so!

BGT Season 4 Audtions 1

Yes! BGT's new season is on air. These are two videos which left a deep impression in my mind (for the right or wrong reasons).

we've seen so many dog shows for the past seasons. this is undoubtedly the best! can it get any better than this? i'd like to see this duo come back again.

what makes these women think their performance is remotely acceptable?

The Biggest Loser

After watching 5 seasons of The Biggest Loser, it's hard not to be influenced/inspired. Last year's backpacking trip kinda broke our gym-going momentum and the inertia to get started again was really high. Last Sunday, Kh and I finally made that step. I don't know what got over me, I just kept going on and on and on... I might even imagine Jillian yelling at me not to stop.

Did 3.2km on treadmill, completed fitness test on spin bike, followed by 60 ab crunches, cardio on stairmaster, 200 side jumps, 60 weight lifts on hamstrings, 100 on quads, 10 on biceps (and I'm ashamed of this), more cardio workout again on the new machine, and finally 12 laps at the swimming pool (the week before I did 50). All in all a 4-hour workout.

Even when I'm eating I'll mentally calculate how many calories I'm taking in. I'm choosing healthier alternatives. Low fat tuna mayo, low fat milk, wholemeal bread. I even followed Bob's advice to make your own breakfast and pack them in ziplock bags in the fridge, so you're good to go every morning- no excuses for eating rubbish.

A new discovery I made at the supermarket yesterday: I was choosing between low fat milk and the results of my analysis;
kCal per 100ml,
GreenFields- 44
DutchLady- 48
HL- 50
Marigold- 51

It was unexpected but I'm glad Greenfields is the winner because I love it!

Other tips by Bob and Jillian:
1) Keeping yourself hydrated at all times can help you to lose weight faster.
2) Never skip breakfasts as breakfasts set your metabolism rate for the day.
3) Starving yourself slows your metabolism rate.
4) Every pound of muscle you put on helps you to burn an extra 50kcal a day.
5) Avoid ingredients with high sodium as sodium retains water in your body. e.g. soy sauce
6) Choose nuts and berries over sweet fruits like mangoes for low calorie alternative.

I'm probably crazy to say this, but I looking forward to gym this week!

My YouTube!

Lol... I just realise that my old YouTube video has 10,294 views! Actually I just uploaded it so I can embed it into my blog. Didn't expect so many people to view it. Hehe. Ah, I miss cruise already.

3 more days till I fly! Busy busy busy.

Anyways, Kh will be bringing his netbook along, so I'll do live updates about the trip here as and when I can get access to the internet. Stay tuned! =)

Lady Castle

I finished watching this korean drama series, Lady Castle a.k.a Take Care of the Young Lady a.k.a My Fair Lady, last friday. I actually watched the raw version for the last episode 'cos I couldn't wait till sat/sun for the subs to come out. Surprisingly, I actually understood quite a bit of the show. Haha.

Anyways, I don't understand why Yoon Eun Hye received widespread criticism for her role in this show. I thought she acted pretty good? In fact, better than in Goong (and maybe Coffee Prince? I dunno.) perhaps?

On a side note, I'm seriously thinking about signing up for Korean lessons. I wanna be able to fully understand the korean dramas I'm watching w/o having to rely on subs! =D

Lost

It's been awhile since I last blogged. Hah. Too lazy. Oops just realise I forgot to blog about cruise and cousin's wedding. Ok I'll work on it soon. =x

Well, I've been busy... busy watching TV series, meeting friends, church, job interviews, tuition, sprees, playing games...

FINALLY I've officially graduated on 4th June 2009. I have mixed feelings about it though. I feel relieved, but also very lost. Don't know what to do with my life right now. Was telling my babes that I would use this time to straighten my life out. But I keep procrastinating... as always... zz. One day I will. One day.

Since my last post, I finished watching...

Amazing Race Season 14- yay my fave team won!
24 Season 2 & Season 3- very addictive
Boys Over Flowers (korean version)- best looking and most talented set of F4! Woot!

Kh says I'm crazy. But hey, back in sec school days I could watch it 13 hours in one sitting, only leaving the couch to make a quick run to the loo. =.= Now I simply don't have the time for that.

BGT 2009 Final

Now Piers, eat yourself. You're officially a donut.

I'm super super super glad that Diversity won this BGT season. I would've lost faith in the show if Susan Boyle had won instead. So sick of hearing people say she will definitely win. Come'on, she's good but not THAT good. And she's only famous because of all the publicity she's been getting. Open your eyes and look at the other talents around. If you ask me, Shaheen can sing way better than she does. And better showmanship to add on to it. Diversity totally deserves this win. They were the only ones who continue to impress with each performance. And they just get bigger and better.

Very happy for Julian Smith for getting 3rd place as well. He's always been one of my top favourites. Hope Simon will offer him a recording contract or something. I wanna hear more of his music! Hah.

All in all a very good season. Lotsa great talents. Now this is what I call a competition.

Life

I think I have absolutely no life, yet too much life at the same time. If that makes any sense.

Finished watching half a season of Leverage and 1 whole season of 24 in 5 days. =.=

Look I even spotted an error!

A crew member was holding what looks like a camera. Can even see his elbow and knee. =.=

Went to JB the other day and got a pretty good deal. 30RM for 2 t-shirts! That's about S$6.30 each!

Body Shop at City Square was having a 70% sale so Kh and I got ourselves a 400ml Mango Shower Gel at S$10 each!!!

Diesel, B.U.M, and Union Bay jeans were also going at 70%-50% off.

And I had an embarrassing moment. Kh and I were at J.CO looking at the peeps behind the glass panel making donuts. Then I saw one guy throwing a donut at another guy.

Me: How can they throw the donut?! So wasted!
Kh: Shhh! Don't say so loud, they can hear you!
Me: *Looks up and realise that everyone inside is laughing at me*
Me: Ok let's get out of here.

This is what happens when you hang out with loud friends. Was calling MC on the phone the other day...

Me: Hey I need your address to fill in the referral part of my resume.
MC: OK! 17 J***** ********! Oops I said too loud. (talking really loudly)
Me: -_-"
MC: Now everyone knows where I stay. (still talking loudly)
Me: -_-""
MC: OK... now they are looking at me... !! (yup still loud)
Me: -_-""""

Went to Illuma for the first time the other day and trust me, you DO NOT wanna drive there. The carpark sucks!

(You know how Illuma means to give out light. How ironic cos some of the restaurants there had a blackout. =.= )

So anyways, we went to Xin Cafe to have dinner.

Ordered the Chef's Recommendation, Li Wan Porridge. English description says pork porridge but picture does not seem like it. Asked the waitress what is actually inside and she told me there is pork and "white strips". What the heck is "white strips"? Turned out that the "white strips" are actually FISH MAW which made up 70% of the ingredients. The "pork" was char siew cut into tiny bits. -_-"

The Xiao Long Baos were not bad though.

Kh and I concluded that Vivocity will remain as our favourite haunt.

Prison Break

No not Mas Selamat.. haha. Although I would say he is as smart, if not smarter than Michael Scofield.

Prison Break finally ended its 4th season a few days ago... Thank God for that. It should have ended in Season 2 but well, that's a few millions dollars worth of extra revenue. =/ I'm pleased to say that the series ended quite nicely although Season 4 was really a pain to watch.

I'm currently catching up on Leverage, crime show in Ocean's 11 style. Would say it's very interesting and refreshing to watch, after having endured 5 seasons of CSI, where it's just murders, murders and more murders in every episode. =.=

On a side note, I'll be having my first job interview tomorrow morning, and another one coming up on another day. Not exactly sure what to think of it. It's not a job that I really want, but like what everyone says,"Just grab anything you can find now." Oh well. We'll see how it goes.

Went to Jean Yip today to dye my hair back to chestnut brown for a more natural look. Then I went to Clementi Bright Studio to shoot my resume photo. Strongly recommend this place. Sis took her graduation photo at this studio too. It's a small studio run by 1 award-winning photographer and his photos are natural and not heavily photoshopped. Best of all, his prices are great. 4pc + 1cd for only $12. You can't get this anywhere else.

I was surprised by how fast it took. Less than 30 seconds to take the photo.. Just one shot, and it was perfect. Gerrie says I look like a property agent hahahaha... Immediate collection. Think I spent less than 5mins in that shop. o.O

BGT 2009 Episode 4

Another batch of incredible performers.

Jamie Pugh, singer
http://talent.itv.com/videos/video/item_200145.htm
He's a van driver by day, pizza delivery man by night. But he's got a huge talent that has been hidden within him all his life because of his chronic stage fright. Tonight, he's out to conquer his fear to try to fulfil his dream. And his performance was really amazing. No singing background, no performing experience, and he's just an ordinary bloke. He sang so beautifully with so much raw emotion. I thought it was better than Susan Boyle in a sense. As Piers said, there can be only 2 responses to this. Either you shed a tear, or you nearly shed a tear.

Sue Son, electrical violinist
http://talent.itv.com/videos/video/item_200142.htm
Sue initially auditioned with her best friend Janine for the BGT. But the act was very badly received. I didn't think it was any good either. It was like what Amanda said-- 2 different pieces played together at the same time. It just didn't sound right. But Simon saw potential in Sue and asked her if she would come back to audition again as a soloist. After much thought and encouragement from the audience, she said yes!

The question in everyone's minds was, would you have ditched your best friend to seek glory on your own?

It's a tough decision, but I would've done the same too. Dreams are a lifelong thing. This may be Sue's one and only chance to make it big, and if she doesn't do it because of "loyalty" to her friend, then she may have to live with regret for her whole life. Besides, Janine would've probably done the same if she were in her position as well--except that she's not.

I believe that if Janine is truly her best friend then she should wish her all the best and encourage her and all, instead of being sour grapes. That said, I can also kinda understand how she feels. Composing the semi-classical piece and seeming to take charge of the duo, but in the end, the judges were only interested in her friend.

Some people say friendship is more important than anything. But if friends can't even support each other in what they do, then how can you even call this friendship? THIS is friendship. It means to understand your friend's position and support her in her decision. It means not standing in the way of her success but wishing her the best. It wasn't like Sue forfeited their friendship anyway. She was just trying to seek an opportunity presented to her.

That's the way I see it. Go~ Sue! Hope you get into Top 40s.

I'm going to be an aunt!

Yeah! Received news from my mum this morning that my sis will be having a baby girl! I'm like super elated cuz I was hoping that her first child will be a girl, then I can pamper her with lotsa nice girly toys like little tykes playhouse, a dollhouse, mcdonalds play kitchen, sticker maker, doggie salon that sorta thing. Toys I've always wanted but never had. =/ Kh reckons it's because I want to play those toys myself. Which is also true. Just that it will be fun too to play it with a niece and it's easier for a girl to bond with the mum/aunt as well. Cuz if it's a boy then I don't know what to get for him. Robots and cars don't seem fun... at least to me. =/

So anyways, I was feeling too bored I guess. Went to check out SQ's A380 suites. It's truly "a class beyond first". I wonder when I'll get a chance to sit in one of those. sighs~

Lol this guy is a musical genius. Dunno why Simon reject him.

"Oh God, not the saw!" (Piers)

LOL! Dunno if he's being serious or what but he sounds so funny!
