2 Birthdays

The best present you can give a father on Fathers' Day is... well, a child. Congrats to Jeremy and sis for their newborn, Gabriel Lau Jian Wei. May he grow up to be a happy and healthy child. =)

I didn't get to spend much time with Gabriel as we had to rush off to catch Voyage De La Vie at Resorts World Sentosa in celebration of Kh's birthday. Yes, Kh's birthday is on 19th June too.

Frankly speaking, I'm not sure what to make of it. Voyage De La Vie is a theatrical circus. Meaning you get to see a bit of acrobats and a bit of singing. The only circus I've seen is Moscow Circus, and it was way better than the circus part of this. And the theatre part... well, let's just say that it could be much better. Overall, a rather lukewarm production. If it weren't for the fact that I purchased the best tickets at half price, I'll be kinda mad at myself.

Wedding of the year

Welly's wedding at Raffles Town Club was a simple but quite glamorous affair. Thoroughly enjoyed the cocktail reception which includes voting how we would like her to spend the angbao money we're giving her, posing with Facebook cutouts and savouring the oh-so-yummy smoked salmon bread. Most of all, I enjoyed the creative  movie intro she and hubby Ronald made before making the grand entrance. They met on Facebook, so the whole wedding theme is on Facebook. Sweet. :)

CNY Fail

Mum was totally unprepared when it comes to decorating the house with CNY stuff. She brought out last year's CNY decoration to put them up and I said,"You can't use that." "Why?" "Because it's not Tiger year anymore. There are tigers in it."

So everywhere's closed. What do you do but rely on Gerrie to make the CNY stuff with angpows?

I cringe at the sight of these homemade decorations. It totally spells C-H-E-A-P-S-K-A-T-E. Adding to my horror, Mum actually said that these locations that Gerrie chose to display her homemade decorative piece was a great idea.

Later on, Mum tore out the lanterns from last year's Tiger decorative piece to paste on the wall.

Gerrie: Don't put that lah. It's not even a proper word.
Mum: It's correct what. Wan Shi Ru Yi.
Gerrie: No... It's Xi Yang Ru Yi.
Me: IT'S JI XIANG RU YI LAH. Wah your Chinese damn jia lat.

********************************************************

Mum: I want to watch countdown.
Gerrie: What countdown?
Mum: New Year countdown?
Gerrie: It's already 2011...?
...
Mum: Chinese New Year countdown.
Gerrie: Why Chinese New Year must countdown?
...

********************************************************

Gerrie: "财神" is Monkey God right?

********************************************************

Gerrie: I wore my best dress yesterday. I thought Chinese New Year is yesterday.
Me: What? You should have worn it today. It's the first day.
Gerrie: I know. I just realised it. No wonder there was a countdown.

Happy 7th Anniversary!

7 years. Wow time really flies.

This year, we wanna keep things simple. Less focus on the cost of the celebration, more focus on the quality of the celebration. What better than a nice picnic by the beach? =)

Lunch (prepared by me):
Shrimp Cocktail
Homemade Cream of Mushroom Soup
Smoked Salmon Sandwich w/ Foccacia Bread
Domremy Sparkling Grape Juice

Actually I was gonna bake carrot cake w/ cream cheese for dessert but my house is currently under renovation and the oven is being kept away. zz.

Found a lovely spot where we could have our nice picnic... =)

Kh surprised me with a new Benro C-0691EX Carbon Fibre TravelAngel tripod. This is even more expensive than the one on my wishlist ($370) as it is from the TravelAngel series. Only 600grams and it is as solid as a rock! I can't believe how compact and light it is. So compact that I didn't even know that Kh had a tripod in his bag! It was a wonderful surprise. Thanks dear! =D

This tripod can also be detached on one side to become a monopod. =)

someone's catch

dinner @ Cabana
Sambal stingray + bbq prawns + bbq sotong = YUM!

Followed by Iron Man 2 movie...
Coincidentally, we watched Iron Man in Gold Class on our 5th Anniversary.

Graduation

27th August 2009- My Convocation

Mum and Dad attended. Kh managed to attend the ceremony too thanks to Wayne's extra ticket. Frankly speaking the convo was so boring. I wasn't even listening to all the speeches. But I gotta say the buffet lunch was really good. Mum liked it so much she wanted it employ the same caterer (Kriston) for grandma's 80th birthday. In the end, it didn't work out because it was too ex. No wonder we had to pay $16 per "guest" ticket. I reckon the buffet alone would have cost SIM at least $20-$30 each.

After which, my parents brought me to Bugis to choose my graduation gift--a diamond pendant! Went to Lee Hwa, then Goldheart, then SooKee, then Meyer. After looking at all their designs, Mum and I still liked Lee Hwa the most as their diamonds are the brightest. I would rather have a small but bright diamond than a large but dull diamond anytime.

18k white gold chain to complement the pendant

i just find the circles interesting

29th August 2009- 10am, outdoor shooting with MC and JF. Got Jack to do the shooting for us. Will be collecting the photos from Jack this weekend when I meet him in church. Some samples in RAW format...

29th August 2009- 2pm, phototaking @ Clementi Bright Studio. Will post the photos when it's ready.
Went to grandma's house after that and took a photo with her. Also took some pics of Rachel. Hehe.
