Shopping Spree!

I spend like almost $300 the other day shopping. Bought lotsa nice stuff!!!

Alex stunned for awhile when he saw this. He was like,"女人去shopping真的很恐怖。。。" Well it's not everyday I get to do this. =/

Went to Queenstown to collect pay and at the same time drop by BonkersLink at Queensway Shopping Centre (level 1) to get myself that 23litre Deuter backpack that I have been eyeing on for weeks!!! I highly recommend everyone to go to this shop to buy backpacks (small or large) and backpacking stuff. Very good service with the most competitive prices! The uncle is very friendly and he has a good knowledge on all his products. He also parallel imports some products like Jack Wolfskin backpacks which are high in quality and not available anywhere in Sg.

After which, Kh and I headed to Vivocity to get myself a windbreaker. WinterTime was having some sale but there was nothing there that I liked. Popped by Esprit, and I totally fell in love with this white jacket. On sale at 20% off! $170 less 20+10% (member discount) equals $122!!!

I headed to Settlers for work immediately after my spree as I have to work. GC was there and he went shopping too and we were like so excited over each other's bargains. He luurrvved my jacket so much that he kept modelling it. =x

Oh the lighting is pretty bad... I honestly think he looks really good in it!!!

On a side note, my exam results are coming out next week and I'm feeling the stress as each day approaches. Plus, I'm only left with a week to my much anticipated Vietnam trip and I find myself having too little time to prepare. So many things I haven't buy (travel insurance, stuff needed during the trip, etc.), haven't finish planning, haven't even started to pack! I can feel my blood pressure rising as I'm typing this.... =(

I'm going to be an aunt!

Yeah! Received news from my mum this morning that my sis will be having a baby girl! I'm like super elated cuz I was hoping that her first child will be a girl, then I can pamper her with lotsa nice girly toys like little tykes playhouse, a dollhouse, mcdonalds play kitchen, sticker maker, doggie salon that sorta thing. Toys I've always wanted but never had. =/ Kh reckons it's because I want to play those toys myself. Which is also true. Just that it will be fun too to play it with a niece and it's easier for a girl to bond with the mum/aunt as well. Cuz if it's a boy then I don't know what to get for him. Robots and cars don't seem fun... at least to me. =/

So anyways, I was feeling too bored I guess. Went to check out SQ's A380 suites. It's truly "a class beyond first". I wonder when I'll get a chance to sit in one of those. sighs~

Lao Bei Jing

Went to Lao Bei Jing for the $10.80++ tim sum high tea buffet (3-5pm) at Novena Square today. Very bad experience. A huge disappointment from what we had expected since it got quite a number of people raving about it.

I gotta say the 3 dishes below are one of the few edible dishes. Spicy and sour soup, roti-prata-like guo tie, and braised duck with potato. Kh also liked the custard bao. Unfortunately, he only managed to eat 1 because lotsa kiasu aunties were piling their plates with it and then leaving lots of leftovers.

The so called "tim sum" high tea is a very limited selection of the menu and I can name them all in one sentence. Guo tie, more guo tie, noodles and xiao long bao. Zha Jiang mian was bad. Beef noodles tasteless. Xiao long bao, food court tim sum standard. Guo tie, so many types of guo tie but they all taste the same. Nothing fantastic either. Desperately wanted a cold dessert to get rid of the bad aftertaste. Unfortunately, the cold dessert is almond jelly and longan which is tasteless as well. Sad~

I understand that it is only $10.80 (after ++ $13). But for $10.80, I do not expect to be eating substandard food and getting poor service. This is after all, a Tung Lok Group restaurant. You don't expect its reputation to go down like this.

While I was waiting in line at the buffet table, one of the waitress actually pushed me aside slightly to get across and sorta stepped on my toe as well. She could've said excuse me or something but that didn't happen. Other than that, we get ignored quite often. Took us quite some time to get a waitress to take our order.

I haven't had such a bad lunch in a long time. I suggest that ya all don't waste your money on this place. Hmph.

Underwater Camera

I recently purchased a manual waterproof camera online for only $25. This is a HUGE drop in cost from my Canon 450D waterproof casing which costs $1,400 (as much as the camera itself).

Got myself the orange one. I hope to use it in Vietnam, when we go kayaking or snorkelling. =)

AgapeFest '08 + Cousins' Bdae

As Jack was in Hanoi on a business trip, he asked if I could take over his duty for our annual AgapeFest event. My exams just ended then. I thought I'd be really free, and I could do some good deeds, so I agreed. Then my schedules clashed. But a promise is a promise, so I cancelled all my work for this event. Hopefully, God will bless me in some other way. =/

Overall, it was a good experience. Being part of the backstage team made me feel really important. Lol. People kept emphasizing the importance of my role. And having the important peeps coming to talk to me personally, that's really cool too. Furthermore, I got an upclose look on all the backstage equipment. Lighting, sound etc. Chim stuff. And working with really pro people like Aik Koon (who works at Mediacorp, lectures at SP, and directed the NDP parade this year) and the other backstage staff... wow. It reminds me fondly of the time when I was the backstage manager at my school's anniversary musical. =)

After which, I headed off to Pei Shan's and Dennis' birthday party at East Coast Park chalet. Bought Pei Shan an eeyore stuff toy and the first thing she said was that she was gonna buy it herself. Hee, I'm so good at guessing what people want. 3rd time I get that response in a year. =X

There was way way way too much food. Buffet plus bbq!

My Post-Exam Life

Much thanks to CY for welcoming me back with lotsa shifts, in spite of my 1-month hiatus from the cafe. Been working diligently almost everyday. Also organised a couple of sprees and struggling in my research for my Vietnam trip at the same time.

My very meticulous planning is now reduced to a mere outline of the trip. Apparently, I cannot plan this trip the way I planned for my Thailand trip. There are way too many uncertainties in the already small pool of information. It did not help even when we consulted a Vietnamese, travel gurus, and my lovely Lonely Planet guidebook. I simply could not plan the trip the way I wanted to. After a good discussion with Kh, we've decided to leave everything to God-- that is, to arrive at that place and see how things work out from there. This will reduce the stress of having to constantly keep up with a tight schedule and hotel/tour bookings for the entire trip. Furthermore, we might discover for ourselves the little wonders of this place that are practically unheard of. =)

I think I felt too free after my exams. Went to organise a gourmet BBQ which was, to my surprise, quite successful. Glad everyone enjoyed themselves! =)

Went to Dian Xiao Er @ T3 on sunday for sis's birthday celebration. Ordered a 7-person set meal and the bill came up to be a whopping $185! It was my 3rd time eating at Dian Xiao Er. First two times I went during the promotion period hence I didn't feel the pinch. Now I know this place isn't cheap!

Love their herbal duck and soup. Yum! Oh not to mention the pork ribs. =P~

Compared to its sister store, Soup Restaurant, I think Soup Restuarant is better. No doubt I prefer Dian Xiao Er's herbal duck over Soup Restaurant's samsui chicken, but Soup Restaurant, though just a little more expensive, offers a much better package on the whole. Samsui chicken + sweet potato leaves + gui ling gao and also free flow steam rice (for valueaddedness). What more can I ask for?

On a side note, November is another month that is making me feel extremely broke.

I so badly need $$ for my upcoming Vietnam trip! Speaking of which, this year's itinerary planning is gonna be tough! 15 days, fixed starting and ending destinations, limited time and $$, so many places to go. Kh is giving me until the 20th to work out a proposal (subject to his approval).
