27 Klicks

Jack came over to Kh's house today for another board game maranthon with us. Unfortunately, this time, we're really really sick of our current collection of board games. After 1 round of Cities & Knights, we decided to join Kh's sis and her friend Steed for cycling.

All 5 of us did 27km of cycling today. It was crazy. I mean 27 klicks is not a big deal, but we had bike seats which were practically like wooden planks. Our groins ached so much to the point that they got numb, and you can totally feel warm blood flowing down there everytime you stand up.

After about 22km...
Kh's sis: If given $100 now, would you cycle up and down that long stretch of road again? (approx. 10km)
Jack: 不要，我还要生孩子的。

LOL.

Lesson learnt: Don't stinge on renting bikes!

After more than 27km of chionging, our legs were really wobbly. It's like how after rollerblading, you still feel like you're walking on wheels. Except that for cycling, you could fall down from all the wobbliness. Kh, being his ultra-annoying self, was nonetheless the first to knee-jerk me.

After which, we headed to Sembawang for the peh bee hoon. Jack and Steed ordered gonggongs which we thought were really disgusting.

Lol. Hilarious.

Overall a really fun day minus the groin aches. =X

New phone + F1

It was a really boring Saturday afternoon as always. I was on the bus home when Kh suddenly called me to tell me there was this roadshow at PS that was selling the Samsung F480 at $100 cheaper than other places and asked me to go down immediately. I had no prior intention of changing a phone but went down to take a look anyway. So that was it. I totally bought it on impulse.

It was a hasty decision. I was deciding between coral pink and black. Really wanted black but everyone over there kept saying pink is so much nicer. Even a random lady next to me said,"You should get pink. It's nicer." -_-" So I got pink. It's a newly launched colour and also came with an exclusive $50 Face Shop voucher. Kh got himself the luxury brown one.

So anyways, I wanna say that I'm really proud of Singapore for hosting the F1 Grand Prix so successfully. There was so much praise going on for our country, and just seeing our stunning skyline at the backdrop touched my heart so much that I almost well up in tears. I see the same view all the time especially when driving along the ECP, but just seeing this broadcast live worldwide is a whole different feeling altogether.

I gotta say yesterday's F1 race was really exciting. I can't understand why dad and sis can fall asleep after 5 mins of watching. It's more than just fast cars. It's about strategy, glam, overwhelming technology and so much more. Perhaps my greatest regret this year is not being able to watch the race at marina. Next year, I'm gonna be there, and I'll get my camera, lenses, and tripod ready! ;)

New sports shoe

Went to Queensway today for a project briefing, then went to Ikea to have lunch and buy shower curtains, and finally, bought a pair of running shoes. Yay!

It's the first thing I saw and I immediately bought it. =) Asics is THE running shoe! =D
$172 less 25%= $129 Not a bad bargain although I totally bursted my budget. No choice man, really need a pair. Threw my old pair of Nike's at Thailand last year. It was spoilt beyond repair! =x

Golf + Settlers

I had expressed some interest in learning golf some weeks back, and last night, my dad was going to meet his friend at Tanah Merah SAFRA for golf and asked me if I would like to tag along. Of course I did. So did mum, gerrie and Kh.

Dad got his friend to teach us as he was better at teaching. Haha... I managed to hit beyond the green flag (i.e, the 54m mark) after a few tries. Dad's friend kept nagging at me. Back straight, chin up, knees bent... yadayadayada... Kh, who hadn't even tried it also nagged along. I got so irritated I retorted,"You think so easy you come and try lah."

So he did. And now's my turn to have the last laugh. Wahahahaha.... XD

I don't mind learning golf but I think it's kinda zzz, though Dad's friend said that once you get the hang of it, you'd want to play 3 times a week like him. =.=" Prefer more thrilling stuff. Golf on Pangya is real fun though. Got Tomahawk, Cobra, nice landscapes... hence the term "fantasy golf". Too bad its closing down in august. =/

Yes, I've been keeping myself busy this holiday. Met up with Kh, Jack and Julie at Settlers. Jack and Julie--Kh's super lovey dovey couple friends. Went to Settlers@ClarkeQuay. Made reservations for 2pm-10pm. The person who took down the reservation was kinda sarcastic la. He kept emphasising that we will be here the WHOLE DAY. Like it was some big deal. Even when we entered the cafe, he was like,"So you all will be here the WHOLE DAY." (That's how I know that he's that sarcastic guy.) Yes we know that. We like to play so long cannot meh. -_-"

We totally entertained ourselves the whole time. Didn't need to ask them much about the games. That guy who served us was also the one who took down the reservation, and also supposedly one of the head staff of the cafe. He seemed curious as to why we didn't need his help with games (and we aren't even regulars to begin with) so I told him that Kh and I used to work at Settlers@Katong. Several hours later, he approached us and offered us a job at their cafe. Starting pay $5/hr! Which is what I get as a trainee IC at the Katong branch! Not bad lah. The work environment is also better than Katong's. But I don't think I will take up the offer. The location is too inconvenient for me. Also, I'm currently looking for a serious part-time job that could possibly "beautify" my resume.

Gotta seriously start looking for a job!

Table tennis + badminton

Met Jf and Kh today for badminton and table tennis again. Jf has moved out of her Raffles Hall for the holidays so we played at Kampong Chai Chee CC instead. Funny thing is Jf forgot to bring her racket so the 3 of us took turns to play. Look what happens when Jf uses our racket:

No kidding man... the rackets actually BENT after she used them. It happened to her own racket before (which was bent at a much greater angle and is currently not suitable for use). I was telling Jf that she must have some special kind of magnetic field around her. Thank goodness these rackets only cost $7-$9. =x

Played table tennis after that. Can say that our skills have improved. Haha. All of us were so tired after the badminton thingy that we were almost braindead when it came to table tennis. Kh totally sat there and watch while Jf and I played on auto-mode.

Kh: Woah, nice shot!
Me: What?
Kh: Just now, nice shot.
Me: Oh. Didn't see. We're on auto mode.

Jf said that I play better on auto mode than normally. =.=" I tell ya it's the bat la. Strange that for 2 years I trained in the table tennis team in JC using a long-hand bat, yet after all that, I still play better with a short-hand bat (aka PRC style), and I have only used it 3 times for that matter. The difference in skill is just so much, I'm seriously considering switching to PRC style for good, but that's so weird isn't it. It's like for 2 years those trainings are for nothing. =.=

After which we headed to Jf's house. Yeah... Amy, MC, you totally missed your chance! Yeah man, we've known Jf for 10 years and none of us ever got to go to her house. Finally there is such an opportunity, as the CC is near her house. Hee =D

Jf played a very nice piece for us on her organ! Pro lah. She made us want to dance with the cha cha beat.

Met up with MC for dinner after that! Kh seems like the replacement Amy. Hah.

FFF- Fun Filled Friday

Lols... as the title goes... Went to NUS with Kh to meet Jf for table tennis. Woohoo! Fun, fun, fun. Played for about 2 hours, then went to have lunch together, then Kh went for his lecture, and Jf and I continued chatting, playing pool, playing piano, and playing badminton, all at her hall. Heh. Hall life is fun man.

When we were playing table tennis, Jf and Kh kept refering to my bat as the "godly bat". Lols. I haven't heard anyone used the word "godly" on an object since the days of Maplestory. Funny lah, those 2.

"Wah your godly bat don't need to hit the ball, the ball also can move."

"Wah I use your godly bat fan myself also got more wind."

Technically, my bat costs $163. $38 for the wood which I paid for, and red and black rubber which my coach gave it to me for free. The red one is worth $45 and the black one $80. Those are competition standard rubber he got through sponsorships when he was a table tennis champion years back. Heh. Of cuz it looks really expensive next to Jf's $2 mamashop bat. But I believe anyone who is playing table tennis competitively will invest in much more expensive bats. Likewise for other sports. =)

I suppose this is one my learn-for-fun-spend-alot-of-money-then-give-up things that I always do. Like for viola, tennis and sign language. And ALMOST bowling. Whew. Lucky I quit before I spend another few hundred bucks on that really-nice-transparent-ball-with-orange-core ball which I was eyeing at.

Also, I took off my slippers and play as it was much more comfortable that way. But the hall's floor was really dirty and my feet got so black after awhile. Was telling those 2 monkeys that I want to go the the swimming pool later to wash my feet. They were like "EWWWWWW!!!" I was like,"Hello, I'm going to the shower area at the swimming pool to wash my feet, not dip my feet in the pool!" Then they were like,"People think 1 step ahead you think 2 steps ahead...." Lols. =x

Actually wanted to take some photos of Jf's hall facilities as they look really cosy, but I was having so much fun I forgot. =.= Shall do so when we meet again next week! =D

Treetop Adventure

Went to Bedok Reservoir for the Forest Adventure thingy with kh yesterday. It's this 4-stage obstacle course (sth like OBS) where ya get to go down the flying fox, and the tarzan swings... kinda cool la. Some courses are a bit scary and I was telling kh,"Why do we have to pay money to torture ourselves?" Well, it's $25 per person and he willingly forked it out for me just so I would accompany him.

This is the flying fox for obstacle course #2. It went quite fast and I had a very bad landing. The result is an abrasion on the neck.













Kh went on this trapeze thingy... it's of the highest difficulty among all the other courses there. I took an alternative route instead cuz I didn't think I'd be able to do it.

Kh: So scary...
Me: Tot you did scarier things in army?
Kh: Ya... but in army if you don't do you're a pussy.
Me: Now you don't do you are also a pussy what...
Kh: ... different ma....

Lols... it's a lot harder than it looks... not forgetting that we were high up on a tree. =X

I don't get kh. He's not afraid of riding the highest rollercoasters in the world, yet he was a bit hesistant to do this.


Kh: Rollercoasters are machine-operated ma. You just need to sit there.
Me: It's a lot more dangerous lor. This is like so safe la.
Kh: (blabbers on... stuff i don't get.)

Forget about rollercoasters. What about the Ulahlah ride at Wild Wild Wet? I think it's like 3 times scarier (and a lot more dangerous) than this and he wasn't even the least bit afraid. Dunno what he's thinking sometimes. =.=



Overall, it was quite fun and quite tiring. After overcoming my slight fear of heights, I suppose nothing there is too difficult for me to do. Hah, even kh was so impressed with me la. "Wah, I didn't know you're so brave." Hee, of cuz... Hmm, it would have been nice it there was rockclimbing as well. =)

Night Cycling

I've been really busy lately. I've been to Settlers almost everyday this week already. I'm here at Settlers again, on my laptop. Haha. Anyway, Ms See kept reminding me to blog about our night cycling trip. Shall do it now.

The entire route...

We started at 11pm at ECP macdonalds and ended at 5am at Paya Lebar MRT station. 4 pitstops altogether.

Pitstop: Satay at Lao Pa Sat
Route: Lao Pa Sat to Newton Hawker Centre
Pitstop: Sugar Cane drink at Newton Hawker Centre
Route: Newton Hawker Centre to Geylang
Pitstop: Tao Hway at Geylang
Route: Geylang to home!

We cycled for 1 hour plus before stopping for a break. 1 hour seemed to pass very fast. Kh planned the route pretty well, especially for a first-timer, though I wished we didn't take so many breaks in between. It felt a little more like a food excursion than a night cycling trip.

Overall, it was pretty fun eh? Shall do it again when we have time. =) And Ms See pls blog too. Heh.

New Rollerblades!

I got myself a new pair of rollerblades today. I had to, since my old pair broke into pieces after letting it rot so long. This one's a steal at only $256 by K2! Original price is $512, and I bought this at a 50% discount. A rather high-end pair of rollerblades I would say. Look how pretty it is!

Bought from Peninsula Plaza 2nd floor rollerblades shop. Initially I went there for the "Buy 1 Free 1" promotion at Skateline (4th floor). Unfortunately, the "Buy 1 Free 1" promotion isn't for me since I only need 1 pair. Took me hours to decide if I should take the alternative 30% offer for 1 pair instead. In the end, we found out that the shop downstairs has 50% sales starting today. Wah, we immediately chiong down to get myself a pair. LOL.

Also, here's a pic to show CM the annoying crows I've been complaining to him about. They built a nest on a tree just outside my parents' bedroom, tried to attack me twice when I was just looking, and have been disrupting my sleep ever since. I called the NEA and they said they would send an officer down to deal with those birds. It's been a week since I called them, and I still haven't seen any officers or dead crows. Talk about government efficiency. ARGH. The nestlings are almost fully grown now and they are starting to learn to fly. Guess I'll be getting more bird shit on my balcony now. =\
