Grad Trip (Part 1)

4D3N grad trip onboard SuperStar Virgo, Balcony Class, from 10th to 13th May to Penang and Phuket, with the babes and Kh. Not my first time, hence no surprises, but it was nevertheless quite enjoyable.

Lotsa cool and fun stuff happened, but it'll take me awhile more to process and upload the rest of the photos. So I guess I'll blog about this in parts. This post will mostly be about our first day onboard, and much of the time was spent exploring!

Clarence came to send us off. He would have come too if he didn't have to go for his internship.

Jf says the alcohol onboard is really cheap! So we ordered drinks every night. Spent about $80 worth of dining credits in our whole trip! That's about 12-13 drinks I think?

Post-exams

My last paper finally ended 2 days ago, but still there's this feeling of emptiness within me. The last paper was really quite difficult. Managed to finish the whole paper but still you just don't know how much of the scribbling is going to be converted to marks. Going to hunt for a job soon after I get back from my holiday.

Went to Lot 1 after the exam with the gang. It was really my first time taking an LRT and seeing how an LRT station looks like. I'm like so sua ku. Tingwei was like,"Even the 2 foreigners (as in Xy and William) take before!" ...

I was really amazed by what I saw. In all honesty, I've never seen this side of Singapore before. 360 degrees worth of housing blocks... What an eye-opener! And getting on the LRT was really like going onto a monorail ride. The LRT station was called Pending (lol), and the windows would turn opaque when it comes close to the housing blocks!

Unfortunately, no exams and school doesn't mean I'll be getting less busy.

The next day I had to get up at 7.30am because our board game maranthon with J&J starts at 9am. Zz...

First game of the day... Caylus. Quite an advanced strategy game. What a way to start the day (hey that rhymes). I was still half asleep... Zz

Yay! I won this game!

Next up: Our long-time favourite, Puerto Rico. Again another advanced level strategy game.

Unfortunately, I made a few wrong moves. Came up dead last. Lol. Julie won this round and that's like a breakthrough because Julie never wins in this game!

Julie: My goal today is to beat Gordon and I did it!

hehehe... somebody ought to break that streak ^__^

Next up, few rounds of Bridge and Dai Dee, followed by lunch and Container.

Of all the times we play this, 100% of the time I win in this game. Unfortunately, the game was not going well for me and I knew something was wrong. Turned out that we played the wrong rules. -_-" Too long never play liao, forgotten some stuff. So we quit the game.

Next up, another round of Caylus! And I won again! Hehe. Almost overtook Jack by 1 lap (as in, 100 points). Lols.

Kh was not feeling too happy. "Today is girls' day." Lol.

Off to pack my bag!

6th Anniversary & Rachel's Party

Happy 6th Anniversary to us on 1st May 2009!

This year we really cut back on our expenditure a lot. Was asking Kh why 5th year more grand than 6th year. He was like,"5 years is a milestone, 6 years is for fun. 10 years I will bring you overseas for a holiday." !!! Rocks.

Initially planned to go to Hog's Breath for lunch followed by Wolverine movie at GV Gold Class... But after contemplating awhile, we decided to save money and just have simple lunch and movie. Unfortunately Kh was extremely hungry that day (as usual), so he suggested Carnivore. I remember saying I wasn't going to go to another Brazilian Churrascaria again for months after our Vday dinner at 6th Avenue. After losing 2 coin tosses, I soon found myself back at Carnivore.

Thank God we didn't book the Wolverine tix at Gold Class. The movie was really quite boring. I would have fallen asleep in the Gold Class comfy recliner.

So anyways we went to check out the National Geographic store at level 1, Vivocity. It was like a musuem in there. So totally cool. It makes me wanna subscribe to NG all over again. Lol. Well, check out their cooler room. It can reach up to -15 degrees celcius. You have to pay a dollar to get in there.

Went to Rachel's 1-month old party! Finally I get to see her awake... but she fell asleep again after 30mins or so. She's beginning to look more and more like Jeremy!

BGT 2009 Episode 4

He's a van driver by day, pizza delivery man by night. But he's got a huge talent that has been hidden within him all his life because of his chronic stage fright. Tonight, he's out to conquer his fear to try to fulfil his dream. And his performance was really amazing. No singing background, no performing experience, and he's just an ordinary bloke. He sang so beautifully with so much raw emotion. I thought it was better than Susan Boyle in a sense. As Piers said, there can be only 2 responses to this. Either you shed a tear, or you nearly shed a tear.

Sue initially auditioned with her best friend Janine for the BGT. But the act was very badly received. I didn't think it was any good either. It was like what Amanda said-- 2 different pieces played together at the same time. It just didn't sound right. But Simon saw potential in Sue and asked her if she would come back to audition again as a soloist. After much thought and encouragement from the audience, she said yes!

The question in everyone's minds was, would you have ditched your best friend to seek glory on your own?

It's a tough decision, but I would've done the same too. Dreams are a lifelong thing. This may be Sue's one and only chance to make it big, and if she doesn't do it because of "loyalty" to her friend, then she may have to live with regret for her whole life. Besides, Janine would've probably done the same if she were in her position as well--except that she's not.

I believe that if Janine is truly her best friend then she should wish her all the best and encourage her and all, instead of being sour grapes. That said, I can also kinda understand how she feels. Composing the semi-classical piece and seeming to take charge of the duo, but in the end, the judges were only interested in her friend.

Some people say friendship is more important than anything. But if friends can't even support each other in what they do, then how can you even call this friendship? THIS is friendship. It means to understand your friend's position and support her in her decision. It means not standing in the way of her success but wishing her the best. It wasn't like Sue forfeited their friendship anyway. She was just trying to seek an opportunity presented to her.

That's the way I see it. Go~ Sue! Hope you get into Top 40s.
